Running back Joe Washington stars as the Baltimore Colts defeat the New England Patriots 34-27 on Sept. 18, 1978 at Schaefer Stadium. The Patriots tie the Monday night game with 1:32 left but Washington returns the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for the winning touchdown. Earlier in the fourth quarter, Washington throws a 54-yard TD pass to Roger Carr and catches a 23-yard TD pass from Bill Troup.
